BEHIND THE
MOVE.
Marco Mercier doesn’t believe choreography should look the same twice.
Sometimes it’s a full cast moving as one. Sometimes it’s a single gesture that makes a scene come alive. Based in Lisbon, Marco is a choreographer, movement director and dancer working across musical theatre, live entertainment, film, television and contemporary performance.
He has collaborated with Filipe La Féria, João Baião and Ricardo Neves-Neves, with credits including In the Heights, Carmen Miranda, Laura — O Musical, Severa and the film Parque Mayer. His choreography for Severa earned him the 2020 Guia dos Teatros Choreography Award.
Alongside the arts, he studied physics, biosystems engineering and data science. He brings that same curiosity to every rehearsal: different styles, different stages, always movement that means something.
